Origin Story
Born from the need to address limited social options and physical therapy constraints for people with disabilities, George Gallego founded The Axis Project as a hub for personal growth and societal transformation.
Through experiences helping individuals transition from nursing homes to independent living, George identified glaring gaps in societal fabric. Stark confinement to homes and the unexpected use of hospitals as social hubs revealed a reliance on medical facilities for social interaction.
A critical gap emerged in healthcare, particularly in inadequate insurance – covered physical therapy sessions, leading to frustrating cycles of regression for patients. This prompted George to create The Axis Project, aiming to surpass clinical approaches and forge an inclusive space for engagement, socialization, fitness, and growth.
More than a gym, The Axis Project offers adaptive programming for people with disabilities and seniors. It catalyzes societal change, celebrating diverse talents and accomplishments. Partnering with various brands, it creates transformative experiences, emphasizing a commitment to a world where everyone is acknowledged and celebrated.
To George, The Axis Project symbolizes more than a facility—it’s a testament to his vision as a social entrepreneur. Identifying critical gaps, he addressed them with solutions breaking down barriers and empowering individuals. This initiative extends beyond physical accessibility, aiming to craft socially and emotionally welcoming environments and build an inclusive, integrated society celebrating diversity.
Every step reinforces George’s belief in community power and the need for spaces where everyone, regardless of abilities, can lead enriching lives. The Axis Project represents not just a place but a movement towards inclusivity and empowerment.
