AXIS IN ACTION — MOVE. CREATE. CONNECT. BELONG.

MOVE WITH US. BUILD WHAT’S NEXT.
Whether you’re on the course or cheering from the sidelines, you can help power the future of inclusive wellness in NYC.
Join us for the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon and help build NYC’s hub for inclusive wellness, disability culture, and innovation.
The Axis Project is proud to be an Official Charity Partner of the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon. Each year, more than 50,000 runners take on 26.2 miles across all five boroughs—bringing together athletes, advocates, and communities from around the world.
We’re not just racing. We’re building what comes next.
THE TEAM
This year, 11 runners will take on the marathon as part of Team Axis, raising funds to power the next chapter of our work. 2026 marks our 7th year as an Official Charity Partner, and last year, George Gallego was selected for Team Inspire, recognizing his leadership and impact.
George Gallego, Founder & Executive Director, Axis Project
“Axis lost its home, but not its purpose—just like the marathon teaches us, we keep moving forward, and every mile we run brings us closer to reopening our doors and rebuilding our community.”
Matthieu Masselin, CEO, Wandercraft
“When we first arrived in New York, no one knew us—but Axis welcomed us, trusted us, and made us feel included; running for them now, three years later, is a way to give back and honor that beginning.”
Alana Rogers, Office Manager, Wandercraft
“Running has been such a grounding force in my life, and supporting Axis feels like everything coming full circle—bringing together my passion for movement, my connection to the disability community, and the work I do every day.”
Kyle Bergener
“I run to be healthy for my son and set an example of showing up no matter what—but this marathon is also for my father-in-law, whose resilience after amputation reminds me that with support, anything is possible.”
Nikita Reddy
“Movement is something many take for granted—but for me, training for 26.2 miles is proof that showing up for myself can change everything, and a commitment to making that same sense of strength, belonging, and possibility accessible to others through The Axis Project.”
Daniyah Khan
“Running has become one of the most meaningful ways I care for my body and mind, and after years of learning to trust myself, I’m proud to run with Axis to help create spaces where everyone can feel that same sense of support, belonging, and access to movement.”
Courtney Lailey Renna
“Running the NYC Marathon has always been a dream—but running it for Axis, inspired by my connection to adaptive sports and my love of skiing and fitness, makes it even more meaningful to help bring those opportunities to everyone.”
Laure Bouché, Clinical Studies Engineer, Wandercraft
“Running has given me freedom and strength for years, and through my work helping people walk again, I see how transformative movement can be—running with Axis is a way to help make that more accessible to everyone.”
Kevin Fleischmann, Field Engineer, Wandercraft
“I’ve always dreamed of running New York, but I wanted it to have purpose—running with Team Axis is a way to give back while supporting a community that empowers people to focus on what they can do with their bodies.”
Joshua Breighner, Physical Therapist, Wandercraft
“Working with spinal cord injury patients has shaped how I see resilience and what’s possible—running with Axis is a way to carry their stories forward and stay connected to that same mission.”
WHY THIS MOMENT MATTERS
In October 2025, The Axis Project lost its longtime home when our building was sold. But we didn’t pause—we built forward. We are now creating a new East Harlem hub designed to bring people together to move, create, connect, and belong.
This space will expand access to:
- Inclusive fitness & wellness
- Adaptive design and fabrication (Maker Lab)
- Media, storytelling, and technology
- Culinary wellness & community meals
- Disability culture, arts, and community events
The marathon is more than a race—it’s our launchpad.

WHAT YOUR SUPPORT POWERS
Every dollar raised by Team Axis directly fuels:
- Adaptive equipment and accessible infrastructure
- New program launches across fitness, arts, and tech
- Community events and cultural programming
- Access for uninsured and underserved New Yorkers
Together, these programs transform Axis into a full-spectrum hub for inclusive wellness, creativity, and community leadership.

Pathways to Independence
Each program is designed with accessibility at its core, led by peers with lived experience, and focused on building skills that translate to real-world independence.
